This page provides the latest information pertaining to Boat Club facilities and services regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mask requirements

As directed by the Queensland Government in response to COVID-19, you are required to wear a face mask when visiting the Hervey Bay Boat Club. You are not required to wear a mask when seated or eating or drinking in the Club.

Vaccination requirements

On 7 December 2021, the Queensland Government issued a Public Health Direction pursuant to the powers under section 362B of the Public Health Act 2005 (Qld) to assist in containing, or respond to, the spread of COVID-19 within the community.

The Public Health Direction now makes it law that from 5:00am on Friday, 17 December 2021, patrons (age 16yrs and over) and staff attending The Boat Club must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, unless they hold a valid exemption.

A patron who does not provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or evidence of a medical contraindication, must not enter The Boat Club.

Substantial fines apply for venues and persons that do not comply with the health direction. Penalties for people refusing to comply are $1,378.50.

This is a Queensland Government enforced policy to keep us all safe, please be kind to our staff.

What is acceptable evidence of vaccination status?

Patrons must show either of the following in electronic or printed form as proof of vaccination status:

  • written confirmation of COVID-19 vaccination provided to the person as part of the vaccination process, such as a record of vaccine card; or • vaccination information displayed on the Check in Qld app; ora COVID-19 digital certificate or printed vaccination certificate from the Australian Immunisation Register; or
  • an online or printed immunisation history statement for COVID-19 vaccination, including confirmation of a medical contraindication; or
  • an International COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate:
    • in a printed or electronic form from the Department of Home Affairs that confirms completion of an Australia Travel Declaration and vaccination against COVID-19 overseas; or
    • through Medicare online account through myGov or the Medicare mobile app; or
    • an official record of vaccination provided to the person when vaccinated against COVID-19 overseas.

What if I don't have a phone?

If a patron does not have a phone, they can show either of the following as proof of COVID-19 vaccination:

  • written confirmation of COVID-19 vaccination provided to the person as part of the vaccination process, such as a record of vaccine card; or
  • printed vaccination certificate from the Australian Immunisation Register; or

  • printed International COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate or an official record of vaccination provided to the person when vaccinated against COVID-19 overseas.

Eased restrictions for businesses
There will be no capacity restrictions on business where only fully vaccinated people can attend, including:

  • hospitality venues such as hotels, pubs, clubs, taverns, bars, restaurants or cafes
  • indoor entertainment venues such as nightclubs, live music venues, karaoke bars, concerts, theatres or cinemas
  • outdoor entertainment activities such as sporting stadiums or theme parks
  • festivals – either indoor or outdoor – such as musical festivals, folk festivals or arts festivals
  • Queensland Government owned galleries, museums or libraries.

Weddings will have no capacity limit if only fully vaccinated people attend.

Restrictions for unvaccinated people
Unvaccinated people will be unable to:

  • visit vulnerable settings, including hospitals, residential aged care, disability care accommodation, and prisons. There will be some exceptions for medical treatment, end-of-life visits, childbirth and emergency situations
  • attend hospitality venues such as hotels, pubs, clubs, taverns, bars, restaurants or cafes
  • attend indoor entertainment venues such as nightclubs, live music venues, karaoke bars, concerts, theatres or cinemas
  • attend outdoor entertainment activities such as sporting stadiums, theme parks or tourism experience like reef excursions
  • attend festivals – either indoor or outdoor – such as musical festivals, folk festivals or arts festivals
  • attend Queensland Government owned galleries, museums or libraries.

These activities are not essential for people to meet their basic needs, but present a considerable risk to contributing to an outbreak in our community when our borders reopen.

These restrictions are Queensland Health directives which we, as the Boat Club, must comply with.

If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to ask our team and we will gladly assist.

Mandatory sign-in with Check In Qld app

As per Queensland Government directions, everyone visiting a hospitality venue in Queensland is required to sign in using the 'Check In Qld' app.

At the Club, the Check In Qld app has replaced our normal sign-in process. You will be able to sign in 2 ways at the Club:

  1. You can download the app to your smart phone, and check-in by scanning the QR codes located at the entrance to the Club.
  2. If you do not have a compatible smartphone, you can use the Club's existing sign-in screens at reception, which will be linked directly to the app.

We recommend downloading the app in advance from your preferred App Store.

  • To download the Check In Qld app for Android Phones, click here.
  • To download the Check In Qld app for Apple Phones, click here.

Using this digital check-in means your details will be stored securely by the Queensland Government for 56 days to assist with COVID-19 contact tracing (if required). The Boat Club is not able to access, use or distribute the information you provide to the app.

If you have questions or concerns regarding how the government uses and stores your details, please familiarise yourself with the information available on their website. Click here for the Check In QLD Privacy Policy.

At The Boat Club, we’re proactive in minimising the spread of COVID and the impact of future restrictions. If you have any questions about how to use the app or how sign-in will work at the Club, our staff are here to assist in ensuring the experience is as user-friendly as possible.
