Boat Club - GOLD SPONSOR of the Col Pearce Triathlon

Hervey Bay Boat Club is a proud GOLD SPONSOR of the Col Pearce Corporate Triathlon 2025.

Get ready to dust off your joggers, pump up your bike tires, and make sure your swimming costume fits, because the Col Pearce Corporate Triathlon is making its return on April 27, 2025!

The Hervey Bay Boat Club is excited to announce that we are a proud Gold Sponsor of this fantastic charity event organized by the Hervey Bay Tri-Club.

In 2023 raised funds for the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre (HBNC) Youth Mentoring Program. With the blessing of the Pearce family, the event honoured Col Pearce and saw 120 participants competing.

With the support of the Hervey Bay Tri Club and HBNC, the event will take place along the beautiful Hervey Bay Esplanade. The triathlon aims to promote an active lifestyle while raising funds for the HBNC Youth Mentoring Program, a cause that provides crucial support to young people in the community.

The Col Pearce Corporate Triathlon includes:

  • a 300m swim
  • a 10km bike ride
  • a 3km run.

What makes this event unique is that every team has a chance to win by finishing closest to their nominated time, adding an element of strategy and fun to the competition.

The Col Pearce Corporate Triathlon has a rich history. It started with a group of "crazies" from the Tri club who wanted to create a triathlon that was accessible to all fitness levels and, above all, fun. The event has raised over $45,000 for cancer research, a cause close to their hearts after the loss of their patron, Col Pearce, to cancer after he competed in his first corporate triathlon1.

Since 2023, the event has supported the Youth Mentoring program at the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre.

The Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre (HBNC) is a well-known community hub that develops and delivers programs and services to meet community needs, especially for those experiencing disadvantaged circumstances. The HBNC manages over 30 programs with over 60 staff and 400 volunteers, covering areas such as Aged and Inclusion, Family, Children and Youth Services, Enterprise and Development, and Legal and Support services.

Among these programs is the unfunded Youth Mentoring Program, located at the HBNC Reconnect Youth Centre. For over 15 years, Youth Mentoring has been providing support to young people experiencing difficulties at school. The Youth Mentoring program offers one-on-one mentoring for young people aged 7-17 years in partnership with local schools, providing weekly support. In the past year, the program supported 45 students with 555 hours of mentoring at local schools in Hervey Bay.

The program aims to provide early intervention, targeting students experiencing difficulties to prevent disengagement with school and the community
